Serving you
Our primary aim is to serve God in the Welsh-speaking community. This involves working with churches and existing projects as well as on new initiatives, providing resources as we are able towards this urgent work, and sharing a vision of God’s heart in this area. Prayer is crucial if we are to do God’s will: we will constantly seek to encourage Christians to support our work through prayer.
We want to work with local churches and encouraging co-operation between them on outreach activities to Welsh speakers, especially young people. gig is keen to support local projects, especially work in Welsh schools, motivating the many Welsh speakers who worship in English churches to reach out to other Welsh speakers, and encouraging and empowering young people to join outreach groups.
In line with our commitment to providing new Christian resources for Welsh speakers, gig was part of an evangelical group involved in the preparation of a revised version of the New Welsh Bible (NWB – originally published in 1988), in conjunction with the Bible Society and the NWB Joint Committee.
We are currently developing a website (beibl.net) which is based on a totally new easy to read paraphrase of the New Testament. This is primarily intended for young people, as a resource for Schools, and Welsh learners. The work of translating the Old Testament is now in progress.
